Furniture Company Will Add 188 Jobs in High Point
A Furniture company in Guilford County is expanding its operations. Deputy Commerce Sec. Dale Carroll made the announcement on behalf of Gov. McCrory at the High Point Municipal Building on Tuesday.
Indiana-based OFS Brands will expand its furniture plant on Jackson Lake Road in High Point over the next five years. Josh Ellis, spokesman with the NC Department of Commerce, says the company’s investment will create new manufacturing jobs.
"The project will create 188 new jobs and will bring a capital investment of $9.25 million to High Point," says Ellis.
OFS sells its products under several different brands including, First Office, Carolina and Lowenstein. The company also has another facility in High Point, along with two buildings in Archdale.
Ellis says the expansion will allow the company to consolidate its operations.
OFS will receive a $300,000 grant from the state through the One North Carolina Fund for the project. The city of High Point is also providing some incentives. But Ellis says before the company receives the money, it must create the jobs it promised.
"This company currently employs more than 190 people in N.C., so not only is OFS adding these new positions, but they will also be required to maintain those existing jobs. This is good news for the people already working for OSF Brands," says Ellis.
State officials say the average annual salaries for the new jobs will be around $42,000, plus benefits.
