Audrey Fannin is WFDD’s News Coordinator and All Things Considered host.  An award-winning producer with extensive experience producing for radio, television and the web, Audrey initially joined WFDD in 2006 as assignment editor and news host. Audrey is a graduate of Ohio University. She spent several years in South Carolina, first as a reporter and assistant recording engineer at WSCI-FM in Charleston, then as statewide news anchor for the South Carolina Educational Radio and Television Network in Columbia. Her favorite beats are politics, the environment, new technology and music.

Conflicting Reports on Arrest in Boston Marathon Bombing

Update:  NPR is reporting that FBI sources say no arrest has been made in the case.  Federal, state and local authorities will hold a press conference in Boston at 5 p.m. 

NPR has announced plans to broadcast this event live during All Things Considered.

CNN is reporting that a suspect has been arrested in the Boston Marathon bombing case. NPR is continuing to gather information and will have in-depth coverage during its news programs.

Local Airports Running Out of Hangar Space

PTI and other Triad airports are running out of hangar space.

  One sign of the improving economy is squeezing  local airports.  Business Journal contributing writer, Justin Catanoso, joins WFDD's Audrey Fannin to discuss one side effect of the aviation industry's expansion in the Triad. Catanoso is the director of Wake Forest University's Journalism Program.

WFU Professor Discusses Margaret Thatcher's Legacy

Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher died Monday.

Former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, the only woman to hold that job, died Monday at the age of 87.  Queen Elizabeth has authorized a ceremonial funeral, one step short of a state funeral, for Thatcher, who was revered by some and reviled by others. David Coates, Worrell Professor of Ango-American Studies at Wake Forest University's department of politics and international studies, was born in the United Kingdom and has written extensively on UK labor politics. In this interview with WFDD's Audrey Fannin, Coates shares his thoughts on Thatcher's passing.

U.S. 52 to Close Overnight

U.S. 52 to close overnight Monday and Tuesday

All lanes of U.S. 52 North will be closed overnight from Business 40 to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Winston-Salem this week for paving work.  The NC Department of Transportation says the closure will begin Monday at 8 p.m. and remain in place until Tuesday morning at 6 a.m.  Crews will reinstall the closure Tuesday night at 8 and remove it on Wednesday at 6 a.m.  The detour route will be marked.  The work is part of the U.S. 52 Improvement Project.
